The USGS is reporting a 2.3 magnitude earthquake north of the Buford area near the south end of Lake Lanier. The second earthquake occurred at a depth of 5.3 miles. The intensity of the second quake was given as level 4, so you may have felt some light shaking. A weak earthquake would not have caused any damage.

The incident occurred on June 8, 2024, at 3:23 AM EDT in Troup County, Georgia. The boy sustained critical injuries.
On Tuesday night, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Troup County deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 1600 block of Bartley Road in reference to two juveniles who had been shot.
According to the sheriff's office, the investigation revealed that the 15-year-old shot his sister with a handgun and then shot himself a few minutes later. In a Friday update, they said that it was just a tragic accident in which he shot himself and his sister by accident.
Deputies reported that the teen boy is in critical condition while the girl is still receiving treatment at the hospital.

Police answered 751 North Indian Brook in Clarkston soon after 6 p.m. on Friday in light of a suffocating. The boy was unconscious when they arrived.
According to police, he was rushed to a hospital, where he died. The location is the area of Town at The Rivulet apartment building.

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves partnered with Chick-fil-A and other local organizations this week for the Braves Home Plate Project event. The organization handed out over 300 boxes of food at the event filled with fresh produce, frozen meats and dry goods, as well as hot lunches from Chick-fil-A.
The Braves Home Plate Project aims to help fight food insecurity in metro-Atlanta. For this month’s food distribution event, the Atlanta Braves Foundation partnered with Chick-fil-A, as well as MUST Ministries, CHOICES, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Urban Recipe and The Villages at Carver Family YMCA.
