When Timberwolves forward Naz Reid drove to the basket for a layup, it appeared that a hard foul was called on Pistons rookie forward Ron Holland II. Reid took immediate exception to the play, confronting Holland and reportedly wagging a finger in his face.

 Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo, who was nearby, stepped in between the two players as they began to jaw at each other. However, instead of de-escalating the situation,

DiVincenzo and Holland soon became entangled themselves, exchanging pushes. Timberwolves part-owner and former MLB star Alex Rodriguez was seen near the incident and reportedly attended to the young fan who was caught in the fray, even gifting them a team jersey.
